Hello! I want to start off by thanking you for all the support we have received in the past year! The amount we have grown has been tremendous! Therefore, I believe it is time to move on and further expand what we have already started. So, on behalf of my team and I, we are proud to have released the new and improved, Double Full Gym Blog. A new site and new sources are provided through the link. We will no longer be posting content on this source but will continue to post on our new site. So, head on over and check out what we have to share. We want to make it an enjoyable experience for all of our viewers and we feel as if this is the way to do so. Thank you again and we can't wait to see what the future holds as we pick up blogging on our new site, this week! :)
With a new year in, and the old year out, it's time to reflect on last year's experiences and look forward to the ones to come in the new year. And to celebrate the new year, we're joining you in reflecting upon last year's occurrences. So to do our part, we are sharing with you, our three favorite moments in the gymnastics world from 2016. Counting down from three, in the spirit of the new year (just like they count down from three to see the ball drop) we begin with...
3. Diversity on the Podium
Often it is teams from the big four that we see standing on the podium in the end. However, this Olympics we had a wide variety of teams on the medal stand in the end. Giulia Steingruber won Switzerland a bronze on the vault. Amy Tinkler from Great Britain won a bronze on floor. Sophie Schemer won a bronze on uneven bars. Other countries were contending in the finals, mixing it up also, Hong Un Jong of North Korea was in the vault final, as well as Dipa Karmakar of India, Oksana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan, and Shallon Olsen of Canada.

2. Brazil Impresses on Home Territory
With the Olympics being hosted in Brazil, the home team's performance was expected to be slightly better, however, not too much was expected from them. This all changed, after Diego Hypolito performed a nearly perfect floor routine enough to get him a silver medal. Moments later, Hypolito's teammate, Arthur Nory, executed a flawless routine enough to put him in the bronze medal position. Moments later they would realize that the final standings left them with Olympic medals. The moment was moving. Watch below:

1. Aly and Simone Dominate All Around Final
Our favorite moment of this year was when Aly made a comeback for her 2012 Olympic experience and Simone finally got the medal in the all around she deserved. It was such an amazing moment for them and for us to witness.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed a joyous and celebratory new year! Stay tuned for more as the NCAA season begins this weekend!! :)
In this week's edition of the routine of the week, we are featuring Epke Wonderland's extreme high bar routine from the 2012 Olympic high bar final. Full of huge release combos (plenty of kovacs') and difficult connections, Epke's routine in the final started at nearly an 18.0. His execution was also just good enough to win him the gold medal by just over a tenth. Unfortunately, changes to the code did not benefit Epke in this recent quad and he was not even able to make it onto the podium in this year's Olympic games, placing seventh. Hopefully, next quad he can improve and hence, make it into the Olympic high bar final and successfully finish in the Tokyo Olympics, four years from now. Without further ado, enjoy Epke's high bar routine below (from the 2012 Olympic high bar final):

Amazing! Am I right? He scored a 16.533 out of a 17.9. Be sure to comment down below suggestions for the next edition of routine of the week! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more! :)
It's been awhile since I've posted an article on the results of a recent competition. So, I thought that to those of you who are interested, I would bring to you the results of the Swiss Cup from this year. The Swiss Cup is a meet held annually in Switzerland. It follows a unique team competition format with two members on each team (1 man, 1 woman). The teams will advance from round to round, to semifinal, to final depending on how well they score. They do not compete on all events as this is just a bit of a way to continue competing after the Olympics (or sometimes worlds, depending on the year), however, to not burn out. Swiss Olympic medalist, Giulia Steingruber, was expected to attend but injured her foot shortly before and surgery was required. This year, it was Ukraine who won the meet with a team of Angelina Kysla and Oleg Vernaiev (two of their strongest gymnasts). Below are the final results (via The Gymternet):
